European Meeting, Malaga, Spain, August 27-31, 2012


The 2012 European Meeting of the Econometric Society (ESEM) will take place in Málaga, Spain, August 27-31, 2012. The Meeting is jointly organized by the University of Málaga and it will run in parallel with the Congress of the European Economic Association (EEA).  Participants will be able to attend all sessions of both events.

The Fisher-Schultz Lecture will be given by Stephen Morris (Princeton). The Laffont Lecture will be given by Pierre-André Chiappori (Columbia). The invited sessions of ESEM are
• Network Economics: Andrea Galeotti (Essex), Adam Szeidl (Central European University)
• Demand Analysis in Empirical IO: Liran Einav (Stanford), Philip Haile (Yale)
• Choice with Bounded Rationality: Botond Kőszegi (Berkeley), Rani Spiegler (Tel Aviv/UCL)
• Social Interactions: Stephen Durlauf (Wisconsin), Bryan Graham (Berkeley)
• Search and Matching: Jan Eeckhout (Pompeu Fabra), Fabien Postel-Vinay (Bristol)
• Forecasting of Macro and Financial Variables: Ulrich Müller (Princeton), Allan Timmermann (San Diego)

The Program Committee Chairs are Andrea Prat (London School of Economics) for Theoretical and Applied Economics and Enrique Sentana (CEMFI) for Econometrics and Empirical Economics.  The Local Arrangements Chair is Ana Lozano Vivas (University of Málaga).

Submissions will be open from November 15, 2011. The deadline is February 15, 2012. Papers can only be submitted electronically through the EEA–ESEM 2012 website:

Each author may submit only one paper to the ESEM and only one paper to the EEA Congress. The same paper cannot be submitted to both ESEM and the EEA Congress. When submitting a paper, at least one co-author must be a member of the association to which paper is being submitted, or join that association at the time of submission.
