Sonnenschein Service Prize

First awarded in 2024, the Sonnenschein Service Prize is awarded annually to at most two recipients to recognize outstanding service to the economics profession and/or the Econometric Society. The selection is made by a committee chaired by the President of the Society and consisting of the chairs of the six Regional Standing Committees.

Frisch Medal Award

First awarded in 1978, the Frisch Medal is presented biennially for the best applied (empirical or theoretical) paper published in Econometrica in the previous four years.

Arrow Prize

First awarded in 2024, the Arrow Prize is presented biennially for the best paper in economic theory published in Econometrica in the previous four years.

Haavelmo Prize

First awarded in 2024, the Haavelmo Prize is presented biennially for the best paper in econometrics published in Econometrica in the previous four years.

Best Paper Award for Quantitative Economics and Theoretical Economics

The QE Best Paper Prize and the TE Best Paper Prize are given in alternating years for the best paper published in the corresponding journal in the previous two years.

For publishing awards, papers co-authored by current Officers of the Society and Editors or Co-Editors of the relevant journal are not eligible for the prize. Prize committees appointed by the President of the Econometric Society choose the recipient with strict conflict-of-interest rules detailed in the Society's Rules and Procedures.
